Reiki Levels

Traditionally there are three levels of Reiki.

LEVEL ONE is for those who wish to learn to use the Reiki Energy.  The class is taught by a Reiki master trained to teach the class and to administer the attunements.  Traditionally the Usui healing system uses four attunements to enhance a student’s ability to work with Reiki energy.  The Reiki One class material generally includes the hand positions, the principles, and the history associated with Reiki.

LEVEL TWO introduces students to 3 primary Reiki symbols and provides an additional attunement.  The Power symbol, Mental-Emotional healing symbol, and the Distance symbol are taught as well as their meanings and applications.  There are differing opinions as to how much time should pass between taking a Level One class and a Level Two class.  It usually depends upon the individual and how easily they process all the energy received during the Level One class.  A general rule of thumb is 2-3 months.  However, there are folks who can successfully handle a Level II class with a single month.

LEVEL THREE is the Master Level of Reiki where a
4th symbol is taught that completes the first 3

symbols learned in Level Two.  In Level three, students are taught how to teach Reiki and how to pass on the attunements for all three levels of Reiki.

Upon occasion the non-Traditional Reiki Schools have created an additional class between Level Two and Level Three.  They introduce students to non-Reiki techniques, which they feel are complimentary to Reiki or could enhance one’s use and understanding of Reiki.  Such examples would be:  Meditation, breathing techniques, crystals, pendulums, color, sound, etc.

Reiki is such an awesome modality that it can easily be used in conjunction with other healing techniques.  What we teach today is primarily the original Makao Usui practices.  These basics, when fully mastered, stand firmly on their own as powerful healing tools.

In my personal practice, I combine Reiki with massage, crystals, signature cell, and overlays.  But I find that Reiki is by far the most simple and the most powerful of the modalities.
